Rankings 10/13/2008

  October 28, 2008
1 Carroll University, 9-0, Goal Dif +28
Cannot do better than perfect.  Let's see them perform in the conference tournament before we crown them champions.
2 St. Norbert College, 8-1, Goal Dif +21
Has anyone actually forgotten about St. Norbert?  When they last met with Carroll, the Green Knights outshot Carroll 7-6, were even in corner kicks and held the edge in fouls.

If only they hadn't been playing a man up for the last 28 minutes, one may come the the conclusion that this rematch will be the game of the year.

3 Grinnell College, 5-3-1, Goal Dif +6
In the match against St. Norbert, Grinnell's only goal came on a penalty kick.  It took the Green Knights until the 100th minute to finish the game.

This first round match up is a must see.  (November 7th at Carroll University)

4 Lawrence University, 5-3-1, Goal Dif +1
Give Lawrence credit.  They beat the teams they needed to beat in an effort to make the tournament.  Let's see if they can knock off the regular season champions.
5 Lake Forest College, 3-4, Goal Dif -3
With one goal losses to both Lawrence and Grinnell, soccer proves once again that it is a game of inches.
6 Beloit College, 2-4-1, Goal Dif -5
Entering the 2008 season, Beloit had to have higher hopes than what played out.  Only two conference wins in a conference that has names like Monmouth, Illinois College and Knox?
7 Illinois College, 2-5, Goal Dif -10
With their new field and ability to hold onto a few players past their freshmen year, IC may be setting up for a nice 2009 campaign.
8 Monmouth College, 1-4-2, Goal Dif -10
Not too much to look forward to this year or next year.  Monmouth needs a complete retooling.
9 Ripon College, 1-7-1, Goal Dif -14
Things will likely get worse before they get better.
10 Knox College, 1-7-0, Goal Dif -14
  It's been another tough year.
